Collecting personal data is not uncommon for a project assignment. If the data can be directly or indirectly linked to a person, you are obliged to notify the Data Protection Official for Research.
Personal information is information/assessments that can be directly or indirectly linked to individuals. That means that if, as part of your project assignment, you do research where you collect, register and process information which can be linked to certain individuals (respondents), you are obliged to notify the Data Protection Official for Research.
Most tools for questionnaires have functions that give the respondents full anonymity. This obviously has to be maintained in the publication of the results in the project assignment. If the registered information is of such a character that it is not possible to link it to the individual who supplied the answer, it is not subject to notification.
If you are in doubt as to whether your research or assignment is subject to notification, please consult your course tutor.
