Transcript of grades from exchange university:
The final transcript of grades from your exchange university is in most cases sent directly to the International Office at BI. You will receive an e-mail when it is here. If the transcript is sent to you personally, please provide the International Office with the original or a certified copy as soon as you have received it.
Please note that
- It can take some months before we receive this from the host university.
- Some universities require a release from the student before they issue the transcripts, and thus, you may need to fill out a form or pay a small fee for the transcript.
- The host universities may withhold your transcript if you have an unsettled payment.
Courses and credits obtained on exchange:
Courses and credits obtained during exchange, and approved by BI, will be accepted as part of your BI degree.
Passing grades from your exchange university are accepted as passing at BI. Note that the grading system may differ from BI, and it is your responsibility to update yourself on what is the lowest passing grade(s) at your exchange university.
BI does not convert the grades into your BI Diploma, and grades from abroad are not calculated as part of the BI GPA.
However, the grades will still be part of your degree and will count as part of your bachelor/master degree when applying for PhD/master/scholarships and/or jobs.
Courses and credits from your exchange university will never appear on a BI preliminary grade transcript (karakterutskrift), so please use the transcript from abroad with course name and grades.
Also note that courses taken abroad will not appear in the Study Plan/ Utdanningsplan on @BI.
Bachelor students - Diploma from BI
Only the name of the host university and the number of credits/ECTS taken abroad will appear on the BI diploma.
The transcript of grades from your exchange university is an attachment to your BI diploma as documentation for courses, grades and credits obtained during the exchange period. You need to attach this transcript from the exchange university when applying for jobs, master programmes, etc.
MSc students - Diploma from BI
Courses taken abroad will be listed in your final diploma. Passed courses will appear with the grade "pass" and number of credits/ECTS.
Grades are not transferred, but count when considering “with honours”-title and best student.
