Oral examination

An oral assessment in which students are questioned by an external examiner.

Individual or group examination.

Usually marked on a scale of A-E for pass and F for fail.
The grade is given immediately after the examination is over.
The student has the right to have an justification (explanation) of the grade after it is awarded. The grade can not be appealed for reassessment. 

An oral examination can be 

  • Oral examination 
    Held in prearranged locations where students and external examiners are present.

  • Oral presentation
    The examination is held in a pre-arranged classroom for individuals or groups as a presentation for a defined group of students that can raise objections to the presentation.
