A request for justification is the first step in a possible reassessment of the examination grade. Tab 3 of 6.
A justification of the grade should not be used as a pedagogical mean for learning. The student must use the examiner's written guidelines for this purpose. The student is responsible to have read the examiner's written guidelines carefully (if available) before a request for a justification of grade is sent.
A justification of the grade consists of a general part and an individual part, and is a justification of the given grade.
How the justification is given
A justification of the grade consist of a general part and an individual part, and is an explanation of the given grade. The justification of the grade can be given as individual or joint feedback (in groups). The examiner will choose whether the explanation is given in writing or verbally.
Students who don't turn up for an appointment with the examiner, are presumed to have withdrawn their request for a justification of the grade.
If the student request for a reassessment of the grade, this must be requested within three weeks after the justification of grades has been given. See @BI (Examination - Reassessment of grades) for more information.
Deadline for requesting a justification of an examination grade is within one week (7 days) after the examination result for the examination in question in published (the publication date is displayed on the student's @BI).
For oral examinations the request for a justification of the examination grade must be made immediately after the student has been informed of the grade.
How to ask for a justification of grade
You can only ask for justification of grade by using the electronic form, link on the top right (justification of grade form).
We recommend that you keep your copy of your examination answers until all justification of the examination grade and the appeal for a reassessment have been processed.
How do I receive my justification of grade?
Written justification or notice of meeting for verbally given justification will be sent to your student e-mail, but also will be available on the exact same place as where you requested for a justification (right below the “send”-button in the electronic form on @BI).
It is not possible to ask for a justification of grade on results from multiple choice exams. The exam is not evaluated by an examiner, but machine-read. A justification would therefore be the same as a new machine-reading. If the student wants this, he must therefore ask for a reassessment of the grade. See @BI (Examination - Reassessment of grade)
